Prayers for Expecting Moms

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
 My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

 He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
 indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

 The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
 the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Prayers for Your Unborn Child

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand—
    when I awake, I am still with you.

Psalm 139:13-18 NIV

Dear Momma, God is knitting your child together wonderfully in your womb even as you read this. He knows every little cell that has to be programmed and developed. He is already writing a plan and purpose in His book for this baby’s life. His thoughts and love for your child are more than you could ever fathom or imagine. Trust Him and pray these prayers during your pregnancy.

Prayers for Your Baby’s Mind

Prayer: Thank you dear Father because you knew this child before he or she was conceived in my womb. The conception of this little baby was your perfect plan. You determined every single thing from beginning to the end and I am very grateful for that. Lord, help us as parents to always remember this. Also, I pray that this child will come into the knowledge of this word early, that he or she will know, understand and be grounded in his or her identity in you.

The prayer below is specifically for the mom of an unborn child with a disability. Submitted by: Meghan J. Villatoro restoreamor.com

Scripture reference: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for entrusting me with this precious life, I know that every child is a beautiful gift from You! Sometimes I feel like I’m not strong enough for all that we will face in the years to come, but I know that YOUR power is made perfect in MY weakness, (2 Cor 12:9) and You will be with me and my child every step of the way. I confess I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by this diagnosis. I worry not knowing what the future holds for my disabled child, but I know that You have created them with a unique purpose. You are the One who gives us each the abilities possess. (Ex 4:11) Help my child to always know that they are special because they are made in Your image. Lord, with your help, I pray that I will always be a source of love, support, and strength for my child, always pointing them to You. Help them to grow to know and love You in the years to come. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Prayers for Your Baby’s Spirit

Scripture reference: Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV

Prayer: Thank you father for this child in my womb. Thank you for the infilling and indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the life of my child. I declare that this child will grow up fully aware that his/her body is the temple of the most high God. He/she will live knowing that his/her body belongs to God. Therefore, I declare that you my child will honor God with your body. You will not use your body as an instrument or tool for evil, perversion and immorality. I pray that you will always have the will and courage to say no to anything or anyone that seeks to dishonor your body. You will possess your vessel with dignity and honor and indeed you will glorify God with your body all the days of your life. Amen!
