My youngest turned 9 last week!! I have one that will be 16 this year and get their driver’s license and then my oldest is turning 18 and graduating next year! I can’t believe how fast the years fly by.

Birthdays are super special in our house. We have birthday countdowns, birthday week events, and BIG parties.

Birthday prayers and blessings are also a big deal at our house. We have days where we pronounce blessings on the birthday boy or girl. We also have a special time of prayer over their spiritual growth and future at family worship.

My hope is that these birthday prayers and blessings will be a source of inspiration and encouragement as your pray over the special people in your life.

5 Scripture-based Birthday Blessings

These are all blessings based on God’s word which means your focus in on blessing the receiver in God’s name and in align with his truth.

1. Blessed by the Creator.

May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 115:15 CSB

5 Scripture Based Birthday Prayers

These prayers are a bit more specific by age, but again they have a verse attached with them that would be great to share with them too!

1. Prayer for First Birthday

For it was you who created my inward parts;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

2. Prayer for Younger Child’s Birthday

For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.

3. Prayer for Teen’s Birthday

5. Prayer for the Elderly on their Birthday

The righteous thrive like a palm tree
and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon.
 Planted in the house of the Lord,
they thrive in the courts of our God.
