It’s mid-December. Another year has come and gone. A new one is upon us. If you are like me, I like to review my year and contemplate the goodness of God in my life.
I also like to assess myself and see how I’ve grown spiritually. Did I meet my spiritual goals? How did I do with my prayer and time in the word? Did I serve others in Jesus’ name?
I then take time to look forward to the new year and how I want to see God grow and renew me. I usually pick a word for the year where my spiritual focus will lie. This year, my word is DELIGHT. I want to delight in the Lord, in the life He has given me, and even in the hardships.
With all of this in mind, here are a collection of Bible verses for the New Year. These verses focus on newness, life, and discipline to keep going in our walk with the Lord. I hope they are as encouraging and life-giving to you as they were to me as I meditated on them.

Ways to Use these New Year Verses
So, we read these verses and see how they can apply to newness or renewal, but what do we do with them? I would like to give you some practical ways to use these verses in the new year.
- Memorize one a week. Write it down, read it multiple times a day, and say it over and over again.
- Pray through the verses. Ask God to renew you, grow you, and forgive you for not following all of what is promised in the scriptures.
- Share them to encourage others. I have added some images below that you can share on social media. You can also write them in a card or share in a text.
- Write them on notecards and carry them around with you for when you need encouragement from God’s word.
