Verses to Start the New Year With Bold Faith

Bold faith is not loud, reckless, or dramatic.
Bold faith is confident surrender—trusting that God is already working in the unseen and that His power is greater than your limitations.

As you step into this new year:

  • You don’t have to predict what God will do.
  • You don’t have to control outcomes.
  • You don’t have to fear the unknown.

You simply walk with the One who is able.

Let this year be marked by:
expectancy, not anxiety … courage, not comfort … faith, not fear.

Your story is held by a God who does more—immeasurably more—than you could ever dream. Let these scriptures remind you of that and help you grow in bold faith for the glory of God!

Bold Faith for a God Who Does More

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. -Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

As a new year begins, many of us create plans, set goals, and dream about what might be possible in the next twelve months. But Paul reminds us of something essential:
Your faith is not rooted in your ability, but in God’s ability.

Ephesians 3:20 doesn’t say God can do a little more than we ask.
It says immeasurably more—beyond calculation, beyond your imagination, beyond what your past experiences tell you is possible.

This verse sits at the end of Paul’s prayer that believers would be strengthened, rooted in love, and filled with all the fullness of God. In other words: Before God does “more” around you, He strengthens His power within you.

This is a big God who is worth trusting and having a bolder faith in. His character, His love, His creation; it all testifies to a God who will do more when we believe. So, lets pray and ask for that bold faith and for Him to do more than we could ever think up in our finite minds.

Reminder: Biblical boldness is not self-confidence. It is God-confidence—rooted in His presence, His promises, and His power.

I think its important to look at how Biblical boldness differs from what the world may call bold. This helps us determine whether we are walking in pride or confidence in the Lord.

A Simple Way to Tell the Difference. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Who gets the glory—God or me?
  • Am I speaking in love or to win?
  • Am I trusting God or proving myself?
  • Does this help or hurt others?

Prayers & Journal Reflections for Bold Faith

Use these to quietly reflect and talk to God about growing a bolder faith this year. Remember that its a process and may grow slow. Keep track of milestones and big steps of faith.

  • “Lord, here’s where I’m afraid to believe You for more…” (Ask for forgiveness.)
  • Write your boldest prayer for this new year—without editing, shrinking, or apologizing.
  • List places where you want to see God move, then write a declaration of confidence over each one.
  • Reflect on how God has grown you and strengthened you in the past year.
  • Finish this sentence: “This year, I want to live with bold faith by…” (Commit in prayer.)
  • What does “immeasurably more” mean to you in this season of your life?
  • Where have you been limiting God by small expectations or fear of disappointment?
  • Can you identify an area where you need bold faith—spiritually, relationally, emotionally, or practically?
  • How have you seen God work “beyond what you imagined” in the past?
  • What might shift in your mindset if you trusted that God’s power is already at work in you?
