It’s that ache deep in your soul that says, “Does anyone truly care?”
Most of us have been there, a place where we feel utterly abandoned by everyone and everything. We have feelings of hopelessness, despair, and disconnect.
Like a piece of drift wood out in the vast sea with nothing but where the sky meets the sea, we see no salvation on the horizon. And often, we don’t even know how to get out an S.O.S.
I want to share a message of hope from the Bible for the woman who feels alone — whether it’s loneliness in a relationship, in motherhood, or in a season of waiting. God is with you, He sees you, He knows you, and He loves you.

Describing Loneliness
These are some of the ways that women have described feelings of loneliness. If you identify with any of these, keep reading and find hope.
- An emptiness in your soul, even when your life is full of noise.
- A longing to be understood, while feeling like no one really sees who you are.
- A silence that seems to scream louder than words when looking for answers.
- A heart cry for connection, but not feeling close to anyone.
- A deep sense of feeling invisible — because no one seems to notice.
- A wilderness where you feel lost and no way out.
- A desire to be seen and heard.
The feelings of loneliness are real and sometimes they are very valid. People can hurt and abandon us. We can choose to isolate ourselves from others.
The important thing to constantly remind ourselves us though is that we can’t stay in that place. We have to distinguish the lies the enemy is selling us and replace them with reality of the truth of God’s word.
To the Woman Who Feels Alone
Even in the place of loneliness, the Bible reminds us:
“God sets the lonely in families…” — Psalm 68:6
“I have loved you with an everlasting love…” — Jeremiah 31:3
“When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” — Psalm 27:10
You are not forgotten. You are not invisible. You are valued and loved by your Heavenly Father.
Here is more encouragement from God’s word to meditate on during times of feeling alone:
Psalm 34:18
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Even when no one else seems near, God is close — holding you even when you can’t feel it.
Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
He doesn’t just stand by — He strengthens, helps, and upholds you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified… for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
God’s presence is constant — not based on feelings, but on His unchanging promise.
John 14:18
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” — Jesus
When you feel abandoned, Jesus reminds you: You are not alone.
Psalm 139:1-2, 7
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me… Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?”
There is no where we can be physically, spiritually, or emotionally that God is not present and all-knowing of our situation.

What You Can Do When You Feel Lonely
1. Talk to God Honestly
God already knows how you feel — and He cares deeply.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
Tell Him everything — your hurt, your questions, your silence, your worries, and your needs.
2. Fill Your Mind with Truth
Loneliness lies: “You’re forgotten.” But God’s Word tells a better story.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
Read the scriptures above again. Write them down. Let them soak into your soul.
3. Reach Out to Someone
Even when it’s hard, take a small step toward connection — a text, a coffee, a walk, a church group, or a support group. Others may be feeling just like you.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.“—2 Corinthians 1:3-4
You are not the only one longing for connection. Sometimes, reaching out blesses both people.
4. Serve Someone Else
Acts of kindness lift our eyes from ourselves and remind us we are still needed and a part of God’s plan to help others. Even small gestures — a note, a meal, a prayer — create connection.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35
5. Create Space for Joy & Thanksgiving
Loneliness drains, but joy and thanksgiving restore.
Make a list of your blessings.
Do something creative that brings you joy.
Go outside and walk in God’s creation.

6. Ask for Help
If loneliness turns to deep sadness or depression, talk to a counselor, pastor, or trusted friend. It’s not weakness — it’s wisdom.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.—Galatians 6:2
You were never meant to carry this alone.

Prayers When Feeling Lonely
Praying when you feel alone can be both hard and the most healing thing to do. You may not have the words — just a heart’s cry. But the beautiful truth is: you don’t need perfect words. God listens to the quietest whispers and the deepest sighs.
Romans 8:26 encourages: “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
A Heart’s Cry for the Lonely:
“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.” — Psalm 25:16
“Lord, I feel alone, but I know You are with me. Help me feel Your presence. Lead me to the people and places that remind me I belong. Fill this emptiness with Your peace. Amen.”
Tips for Praying Through Loneliness:
- Be honest. God is not put off by your feelings — He already knows.
- Write it out. Journaling your prayers can help see growth.
- Play worship music. Sometimes songs pray the words you can’t.
- Listen in the quiet. Prayer is not only speaking — it’s also receiving comfort.
- Keep showing up. Persevere in prayer and don’t give up hope.
A Prayer for the One who Feels Lonely:
“Lord, be near to the one who feels forgotten. Wrap her in Your presence. Speak truth over the lies of loneliness. Remind her that You are her refuge, her companion, and her ever-present help. Let her feel the warmth of Your love and the strength of Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
