Who Can You Trust in This World

Trust is strongly tied to hope. It is placing full confidence in something or some one who has the ability, strength, and integrity to not let you down. This is a strong faith and belief to give so we need to be sure that it is not misplaced, So, who can you trust in this world?

Some trust in strong military or political leaders to save them in a crisis or keep them continually living in freedom. Revelations 16:19 and 19:15 both tell us that all nations will fall. Romans 13:1 NIV says, “for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Some trust astrology, the movement of stars and heavenly bodies. Jesus states that, “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” (Mark 13:24-25 NIV)

Some trust in man made god or religions hoping they will win favor or designing their own god that will suit their life. However, the Bible says, “But those who trust in idols, who say to images, ‘You are our gods,’ will be turned back in utter shame.” (Isaiah 42:17 NIV)

Some trust in people in their lives who they feel love and care for them. Family, friends, even government leaders are on this list. The truth is that people, even if they don’t mean to, will disappoint you. Psalm 118:8-9 tells us, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes
.”

In the end, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7 NIV Everything in this world is fleeting, fading, and helpless against powers of darkness. Only the Creator God of all mankind who gave His life that we might live and conquered death is worthy of our trust and hope.

10 Reasons You Can Trust God

Who can you trust in this world? You can trust in God. Here are 10 reasons why you can trust in God that testify to His trustworthy character.

1. God’s Word is Truth.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Matthew 24:35 ESV

God’s word is made the stand the test of time. Even after heaven and earth have passed, His word remains true. That means we can trust everything He says because He will accomplish it all. We can read the Bible and understand the truth of who God is and who we are in Him.

2. God is Sovereign.

The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.

Proverbs 16:33 ESV

Man can try to predict or guess at the future, but even with the most intelligent hypothesis, every decision goes through the Lord first. He is ultimately in control of all.

3. God is Good.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Psalm 84:11 ESV

Because God is good, all that He does is good. He has good in mind for His people. This means we can always trust He has our best interest at heart even if it isn’t what we expected or wanted.

4. God is Perfect.

The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Deuteronomy 32:4 ESV

God is perfect and his ways are perfect. We can count on Him for justice, truth, and refuge. He is never unfair, He is never unfaithful and He is always without iniquity.

5. God Loves You.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.  In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

1 John 4:7-9 ESV

God not only loves you, but He is the origin of love. No one can truly love unless they have been born of God. Real love sacrifices so that others might live. You can trust a love that would die for you.

psalm 20:7

6. God is Patient.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 ESV

God’s patience towards us points to His care and lovingkindness. It means we can trust that He is patiently waiting for sinners to repent and all to know Him. He is not rushing us, but patiently waits for our complete trust.

7. God is Merciful.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Psalm 103:8 ESV

God’s mercy is so complete that He does not give us the punishment we deserve but instead has grace to give us the patience, love, and kindness we don’t deserve. A God so forgiving and full of mercy is worthy of our trust and devotion.

8. God is Compassionate.

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.

Psalm 103:13 ESV

Like a good Father who pities and shows concern for a helpless child, our Heavenly Father looks down and see us confused, suffering, and needy and sweeps to our rescue. His compassion caused Him to sacrifice His one and only Son for our sins and still to continue to love and care for our needs.

9. God is Powerful.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

Psalm 29:4 ESV

God spoke the world into existence. He need only speak and word and His will is done. This kind of power could be scary if we had not already established His character as good, perfect, loving, compassionate, merciful, and patient. Since He is this kind of God, we can trust and rely on His power.

10. God is Near.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:8 ESV

God is as near as you allow Him to be. When we shed our sinful habits and behaviors, when we trust Him enough to let go of this world; He is there. He longs for us to be in His presence, experience an intimate and growing relationship, and to reap the benefits of all that comes with abiding in our Savior.

Isaiah 26:4

Thank you for these truths about the hope and peace we find when we trust the Lord! He is trustworthy! This blessed me, friend!

  2. These truths are so simple, yet many of us struggle to apply them to our lives. They would be great mantras! I have started saying,” God is good; I can trust Him.” It is helpful to say it everyday. I really believe it now.
