My oldest (14) just got a job. He also got a new bike. His level of independence basically changed over night. My Momma heart is struggling to accept that he is growing up. I am also in need of some encouraging bible verses because I have to admit, I am currently the worried mom.

With four kiddos, I have all kinds of thoughts that if I dwell on too long, will take me down a dark path that threatens to steal my peace, joy, and hope in the Lord. But, I do not have to stay there. The Bible encourages us to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV)

Encouraging Verses for the Worried Mom

Kids, health, money, future, circumstances out of our control… all of these can keep us up at night. Here are some encouraging Bible verses for the worried mom to rest on.

  1. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

Isn’t it encouraging to know that the God of all creation cares for us? If we just take time to sit and talk with Him, and tell Him all of our worries, His love and care will comfort us.

  1. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 NIV

The promises of God are for us to claim. If our minds are steadily focused on God, and we are trusting in Him to protect our families, secure our futures, and work all our for good, He will keep us in perfect peace.

  1.  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV  

Positive thinking is key to not letting our minds fall down the slippery slope of worry. If we are counting our blessings, thinking about why God is praiseworthy, or meditating on the truth of His word, negative ideas and worry will have not place in our thoughts.

  1.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 5:34 NIV

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:25-34 that we have no need to worry about provision because God will provide for us. He goes on to say that if we “seek first the kingdom of God” that all of these things will be added unto us. Our obligation is to fix our eyes on Jesus TODAY and let Him control tomorrow.

  1. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16 NIV

Relying on God’s love is so important in times of worry and anxiety. We have to remind ourselves that he loves us, he loves our children, and love wants the best. So, we can trust that the one who loves us most is in control and we are not alone or hopeless.

  1. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV

This is one of those bible verses that is perfect for the worried mom because it calls to mind the truth that the Lord is always working things out for good. We may not see it at the time but His ways and plans are higher than ours and if we only trust Him, we will get the best results.

Worry Over a Child

Dear Heavenly Father, I place _____________ in your hands. I know that you love him/her more than I do and your plans for them are for good. (Jer. 29:11) I pray that you will give me peace and strength to trust you with my child. Be with them, guide them, protect them, and keep them in your path. Worry Over the Future

Dear Lord, I am concerned for the future. This world seems like it grows darker each day. I ask that you will help me focus on Jesus and live intentional one day at a time. Give me your joy, hope, peace, and love as I read and meditate on your scriptures. Guide my family in the plans you have for us and help us to shine your light. We are resting in the promise that “faith is the victory that has overcome the world.” (1 John 5:4) Amen.

Worry Over Provision or Finances

Lord, your word says that you “will provide all of our riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19) and not to worry because you will take care of our needs. (Matt. 6:34) God, as we faithfully serve you and give to the work of your church, I ask that you will comfort my heart to know that you promise to give me and my family “our daily bread”.(Matt. 6:11) Please provide ___________ for us and allow us to testify of your glory through your blessing. Amen.

Worry Over Circumstances or Hard Situations

Heavenly Father, I am currently worried because of __________________. Please calm my fear, worry, and anxieties. Please put my hope and trust in you alone. Be with me in this storm. Teach me to rest in the truth that you work all things out for good. (Rom. 8:28) Keep reminding my heart of your presence and peace that passes understanding. (Phil. 4:6) Thank you Lord in advance. Closing Bible Verses for the Worried Mom

Psalm 121 is a beautiful reminder that we serve the Creator who is our help. He is never asleep and always with us. He is looking out for us and watching over us. His intent for us is to keep us from harm and to give us life.

I pray that you read it slowly and meditate on how great the Father’s love and care are for you. Remember not to worry but only trust Him.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
 My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—

    I am feeling just the same with my 4 teenage girls growing up too fast. My 17 year old has a job, is driving and looking at universities. Thankyou for the encouragement, it’s nice to know I am not alone in my mum worries.
