So, this is a first for my little blog, I have a Dad writing this post. And not just any Dad, but my very own husband, Matt Hess, my kid’s daddy! I figure it was only fair to let him be the first. I hope you love this story as much as I did the first time I heard him share it in his sermon at church some weeks ago!!

“I wanna see Jesus. I really wanna see Him!” These were the words our eight year old Seanna used to say often. Since the time all four of our children were in the womb, my wife, Arrica and I had a nightly ritual. We would read Scripture and then lay hands on her stomach and pray over the precious life inside. In those prayers, we would ask for health, a good delivery, for the child’s future, and even their future spouse. But primarily, we have always prayed for our children to desire Jesus above all else.

There are many things a parent can pray over their children but none greater than a desire to know God and glorify Him with their lives. And here’s the good news, Jesus wants to reveal Himself to your child, He wants your family to desire Him. In Matthew 19:14 He says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” And here’s the EVEN BETTER news….Jesus has already revealed Himself!

As a pastor, many people have said to me over the years, “If God would just reveal Himself to me in some way or somehow than I would believe in Him with no problems.” But you see the ultimate revelation of God is found in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

 “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

Hebrews 1:1-3

Our human nature wants to see a sign (like Gideon), wants to touch (like doubting Thomas), our human nature wants to experience something, but the Bible says that our hope in Christ is a faith endeavour.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6.

Seanna Grace surrendered her life to Jesus Christ last summer. And since then, do you know, not one time has she said, “I want to see God.” Why? Because by faith she believes now that God lives inside of her through the revealed manifestation of Christ His Son. Why? The Bible tells her so!

“Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”

John 14:23

Once they are saved, its important that we continue to grow this truth in them that we walk by faith and not by sight. But, also share the good news that someday, we will meet Him face to face and our faith will be sight. Do you look forward to that day?
